Free web-based conferencing software

Wednesday, July 30th, 2008

We use WebEx at work to conduct meetings and demos with our (potential) customers without having to leave the office. It works great! GotoMeeting is another service that offers basically the same thing. The only issue to using these services for personal or church support use is that they cost about $50 a month.

Enter Dimdim:

Dimdim is the world’s free web meeting where you can share
your desktop, show slides, collaborate, chat, talk and broadcast via webcam with absolutely no download required for attendees.

And it works! Dimdim comes in (3) flavors: FREE, Pro and Enterpirse. The major difference between the flavors are the number of users you can have connected to the meeting at one time. FREE limits you to 20, Pro 100 and Enterprise 1000. For personal and church support, the FREE flavor fits perfectly.

So go give Dimdim a whirl … you have nothing to lose!!

Movie: Fireproof

Friday, July 18th, 2008

My wife and I were invited to see a preview of the upcoming movie: Fireproof. It is the 3rd movie written and produced by the Alex and Stephen Kendrick and Sherwood Baptist Church in Albany, GA.

The Kendrick brothers also wrote, produced, and in Alex’s case, starred in the previous two movies: Flywheel and Facing the Giants. Two of my favorite movies.

Caleb Holt, played by Kirk Cameron, is a firefighter who’s marriage is on the rocks. His wife Catherine, played by Erin Bethea, feels under appreciated and bitter. As divorce proceedings are started, Caleb’s dad challenges him to do the Love Dare for 40 days. It changes Caleb’s life forever.

I really enjoyed the movie and felt that it was true in its sharing the frustrations and pitfalls of a marriage in distress. True to the “Kindrick brother style”, supporting characters offer comedic relief from the more serious scenes. It all works together and I found myself liking these characters. Besides be an outreach for those in a struggling marriage, Fireproof offers sound Biblical advise to those who want to keep their marriage strong.

As Caleb states in the movie, “Never leave your partner behind.”

Fireproof is scheduled to be released on September 26, 2008 nationwide. I highly recommend seeing it.

McDonald’s signs on to promote the homosexual agenda

Tuesday, July 8th, 2008

According to the American Family Association:

It is about McDonald’s,
as a corporation, refusing to remain neutral in the culture wars.
McDonald’s has chosen not to remain neutral but to give the full weight
of their corporation to promoting the homosexual agenda, including
homosexual marriage.
